Rumblepaws Bengals, how did we get involved with the bengals you may ask? In the distant past I had achieved many years experience under my belt with regards to purebred cats. Although back then it was with a different breed of cat entirely. Showing grand champions, regional winners, even taking an award at the international show in Chicago in 95/96 season, as well as coming within closing distance on a national kitten win once back in the 90’s. Becoming an avid faithful patron of the show hall. Along this experience I had the honor to be a part of helping to organize our local cat shows. In the late 90’s an unforeseen devastating tragedy involving my home itself forced me to have to make a choice to stop showing our purebreds back then. This was not an easy decision and all my beautiful pedigreed lines were placed with trusted friends. Many years passed, and at times I truly did miss having my fuzzy babies underfoot.
…..It wasn’t until my daughter started showing a keen interest in animals, and at the age of 4 she started avidly begging for a dog of her own. It was then that finally I thought, why not? Not to the dog idea that is, although I love dogs too. The next best thing I knew to having a dog, personality wise is in fact a bengal cat. This would give my child a chance to not only learn of the things that I loved that were a huge part of my life and my past, but also to give her the chance to learn and grow with the knowledge of caring for them, responsibility, and developing a love of the breed. Her aspirations of being a vet have not wavered much, and this would be a chance for her to learn, love, and grow with knowledge. So in short it all made sense. My daughter would have the next best thing to a dog, she’d also have the chance to learn the love of the breed and nurture her desire to become a vet, and maybe even a little part of it would also help fill a gap that left a little hole in my heart so long ago that owning and caring for these animals filled back then. I knew I had the knowledge and a good amount of know how. And I would not be entering it a total novice given my experience. I did a ton of research on the breed beforehand, determined to learn as much as I could and not to dive in both feet first. If I was going to do this it was going to be the right way with a lot of research and knowledge beforehand. So after a great amount of research and many questions to mentors and friends our first bengal arrived and Rumblepaws Bengals was born.
